As we look toward helping the Earth throughout the year, let us be ever mindful of the words of Gifford Pinchot, who served as the first Chief of the United States Forest Service from 1905 to 1910.  Pinchot said, “Conservation is . . . the preservation of forest, waters, lands, and minerals, for the greatest good of the greatest number for the longest time.”  At the Fields-Penn House, we seek everyday to conserve and preserve the history of Abingdon and the history of the Fields and Penn families for future generations.  As  we seek to protect the past, let us also preserve the Earth for the present and future.
