The closest airport is the Tri-Cities Regional Airport, 33 miles southwest of Abingdon. From the airport, take I-81 North to exit 17 and follow the signs to Abingdon.
From I-81: Take exit 17. Turn [left if you’re on I-81 North and right if you’re on I-81 South) at the end of the exit ramp onto Cummings Street / Alternate 58 for 0.7 mile. Turn left onto Remsburg Drive. The Fields-Penn House is on your right, located on the corner of Cummings and Main Streets in historic downtown, Abingdon, Virginia. Free parking is available in the town municipal parking lot just ahead on the right.
There is no daily public transportation available to the site. During the Farmer’s Market’s regular season, the Town of Abingdon operates the Abingdon Local Transit on Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. The Market Pavilion (located behind the Fields-Penn House on Remsburg Drive) serves as the terminus on both routes. Parking is available in the town municipal lot located next to the Fields-Penn House.
The Fields-Penn 1860 House Museum is not accessible. In some cases, the winter kitchen and the first floor may be viewable to those with assistance.
The Fields-Penn 1860 House Museum is open 12-5 on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. We are open from 9 am to 5 pm on Friday and Saturday. Tours are available, as our schedule permits, during our closed hours. Please e-mail us at email@example.com or call us at (276) 676-0216. to schedule a tour.

Guided and self-guided tours are available for the Fields-Penn House. Guided tours may take from 45 minutes to 1 hour.
Tours of the house require standing, walking, and negotiating two flights of stairs. There are no public facilities at the museum; however, the town of Abingdon has public restrooms located on Remsburg Drive, directly behind the Fields-Penn House.
Schools or groups with numbers larger than 12 should call the Fields-Penn House at (276) 676-0216 to make arrangements with staff or fill out our tour request form.
There is no admission charge to visit the Fields-Penn House. Donations are accepted and appreciated.
